Hi guys, hopefully someone can help me here. I'm running lion with windows xp for about 3 weeks now with no issues. was restarting this evening and all i'm getting from the virtual machine is the spinning circle...for hours... If i force suit and try starting again, i am met with this. "This operation cannot be completed because the virtual machine "Microsoft Windows XP" is in the "stopping" state." Well, it won't stop or do anything. any ideas?
Can't stop the VM I have the exactly same problem, running Parallels 6.0/Lion/XP and now can't get it to stop Did you ever come up with a solution? Thanks.
Found a solution I had the same problem and found a solution that worked for me. I'm pretty sure all I did was: 1. Find the virtual machine (.pvm) file (default location is ~/Documents/Parallels) 2. Rename the file (I changed mine from "Windows XP.pvm" to "Windows XP 1.pvm" 3. Doubleclick the file. Parallels opened with the same "spinning circle" window 4. Close the "spinning circle" window After I did that, a new window opened for my VM and it started right up.
I was having the same problem as the others. I would run my Parallels instance that pointed to my Boot Camp partition and when I would select to shutdown, it would sit for hours if I let it. If I tried to Command-Q close Parallels, would get a message about suspending my Windows machine on a Boot Camp partition and it still would not shut down. I would have to resort to using a Force-Quit on Parallels Desktop to get it to close. I followed your instructions and now it appears to shutdown properly for me. Thank you! Update: I appear to have spoken too soon. If I open PD7, start the VM, then form the login screen select to shutdown, it works properly, but if I login and use the virtual machine for some time, then try to shutdown, it still hangs on the Windows 7 blue "shutting down" screen, with the Win7 blue spinning circle cursor frozen on the screen.
