when i start Parallels I get the VM Config menu, saying the OS is "stopped." It won't allow me to restart. The only button on the menu that responds is start (the green triangle), which brings me to the OS installation assistant. If I hit express, a dark curtain falls over the screen saying I need to restart the computer (in three different languages, which is three more than I need, when a dark grey curtain falls over the screen and nothing responds, neither keyboard or mouse, of course I'll manually restart the computer, what choice do I have??!!). If I do custom installation and then more options and click on ISO image, as was suggested elsewhere, I get asked to pick an application, but there are none to pick -- everything is grey and unclickable. We were running XP on Parallels, and it was working fantastically, and then one day the name of the computer in finder, on the mac side, was accidentally changed. It's now back to the original/correct username, but since that happened I've been unable to run parallels. Suggestions?
We've reloaded it twice and the same thing happens. For all the applications on the MAC side, we had to move applications back to the proper location. Can someone please tell me where the parallels and winxp folders should be on the MAC side-in the folder library? Just in the home/user folder? Any other suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.
The map "winxp" with your .hdd is located in Imac (home)/libary/Parallels The program parallels is locaded in map software Think the best way to do this is. Put your winxp back in right place. Uninstall parallels with uninstaller in package Then install parallels back
Well, made sure stuff was in right foldrs and then uninstalled/reinstaled as suggested. Still had same problem when tried to open parallels, so just started opening stuff in winxp folder. When I double-clicked on the .hdd flder told no application to open it, then double-clicked on next one (which I think was winxp.mem) and all of sudden we were back in business. So I'm still not sure what was wrong or how fixed it, but am back in business. Thanks for the help!
