    Windows XP. Installation problems.

Moved from "How to" and renamed

I just purchased a MacBook Pro and Parallels Desktop for Mac. . I tried to install Windows XP but now I'm getting the following message in a separate window with a black backround:

    Boot from hard drive....

It just freezes from there. I attempted to deleted the XP space and reinstalled Parallels Desktop for Mac, but I'm still having the problem.

What do I need to do?

I am having the same exact problem. I tried installing last night, and wound up in the same mess you are in. Have you tried the $29.99 support call?

    Lost

I installed parallels in my new macbook pro, and now I get a window that says "winxp-Parallels Desktop", but none of the buttons work, and I'm at a loss as to how to get a windows looking desktop, or something that will let me install pc based software.
    So...Now What?

Which version of Parallels do you have? The current release is 3188. Some retail stores still have old releases on the shelves. If you download the current release from the Parallels website, a lot of you problems may be solved.

Some of the older releases do not support the Core 2 Duo processor, so it is very important to be current.

which versions of the OS are you using?

some student Win XP sp2 installers are in fact update disks and need a previous installation before they will work
