I have a Mac Book Pro (OS X 10.6.5) - all firmware/software is updated and current. I'm running Parallels Desktop and Win 7 Pro on my virtual machine. I want to use the Windows Virtual PC tool to setup Win XP in a second virtual environment. When attempting to setup Win XP with the Windows Virtual PC tool, I'm able to install, but when I attempt to run the app, I'm receiving "this computer does not have hardware-assisted virtualization...". A workaround is to change the BIOS, but with the MAC and Parallels, I want to know 1) if it is possible to change the BIOS and 2) use Windows Virtual PC in this environment. MS Support was no help and sent the following links: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2744 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237 Parallels support stated "I would like to inform you that it is not possible to use Virtualization under a virtualized Windows." (No further information provided...) Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Have you tried doing it in bootcamp & using those as VM? I'm not sure but I wonder if it might work better doing what you want in bootcamp since that is supposed to run Windows native. Might be something to look into & then run bootcamp as a virtual machine. Although if you had both set up in bootcamp, not sure how that would work running in Parallels. I have Windows 7 Home 64 bit in bootcamp & set up as a virtual machine in Parallels 5.
