I have had a parrtition for parallels running Windows XP for the past 6(ish) months. It has suddenly suffered a huge slowdown making it unusable. Is there anyway to fix this as I really dont want to format it as I have alot of stuff on it. I am running it on a MacBook 1.8ghz with 1254mb of ram.

    Thanks for any help

One possible cause for the slow down is the Windows itself. Windows tend to slow down after a few months of use, usually due to maleware and other crap that cumulates.

    Try these:
    1. Get rid of malware by scanning using Spybot Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster. Malwares it up a lot of your valuable processor. You will immediately notice better performance after scanning for them.
    2. If you have anti-virus software such as McCafy, Norton or Symantec, uninstall them. They are performance hog, instead go for free anti-virus software such as AVG or Avast.
    3. Turn off Wall Paper and use solid colors as background instead.
    4. Turn off System Restore.
    5. Turn off all unncessary visual candy and effects.
    6. Do not use IE, instead use Firefox or Opera. Set your IE cache to less as possible. Delete all offline content and history.
