Why does launching Parallels disable Windows Sharing on the host (OSX)? I have tried everything I can think off, including completely removing and re-installing the Parallels app (as per script posted on this forum), but it still does it every time! Tried a new VM too....

    Using MBP, 2.16, 2G, XPSP2.

    Solved it.....

I had Apple Remote Desktop enabled so that I could VNC from another machine. Turned it off, and all is now well.

Another minor bug for you guys!

Too good to be true - its happening again. Interesting observation, when Windows sharing becomes disabled an additional panel on the Hardware pane of System preferences called lnk appears - it seems to be related to a tablet, with handwriting recognition preferences.....

    Curious.......

Hmm, the Ink preferences should only appear if you have a tablet connected. Using Activity Monitor, do you see InkServer running?

This may be something happening on the Mac side. Perhaps you should verify your HDD and fix permissions, just in case.

Verified the HD, fixed permissions, even booted in single-user mode and fsck'd.

Just booted the VM ,windows sharing disappeared as usual, but lnk did not appear.

Another feature I have noticed is that sometimes I cannot launch Mac apps while a VM is running.

Definitely all on the Mac side, but all is well when Parallels is not running......
