I'm attempting to install the 2X client such that, when a user logs in to the client PC, 2X is already completely installed, the shortcuts to the Terminal Server programs are on the desktop, and all the user needs to do is click on the icon to launch the software. I'm using Active Directory with Group Policy to assign the software to the PC. I've used Orca to modify the msi but I must be missing some settings because the 2X client installs silently at boot but the user must still launch the client and log in to the server in order to install the shortcut icons. And, when I look at the options screen on the client, the choices that I selected in the msi have not been applied. I've read the manual umpteen times but don't find answers to my questions. What am I missing? Thanks much. - Gary

    Hi there..

The 2X client needs some type of credentials to be able to retrive the list of applications. This can be obtained by using SSO, but to have SSO working, the client PC needs to get restarted, to obtain the credentials.

So, basically the client eighter needs to manualy enter his credentials or restart his machine.... :S

Some background: I used Orca to modify the msi and set SSO to 1. I created a Group Policy to have the 2X client install 'assigned' to the pc. I have rebooted the PC and watched as the assigned software is installed. I found the SSO entry in the pc's registry file (\\HKLM\SOFTWARE\2X\AppServerClient) and the SSO keyword is set to '1'. Yet when I log in either as a local administrator or a local user, SSO is not active. By 'not active' I mean that when the user double-clicks the 2X ApplicationServer icon, an error message appears to the effect that the user's credentials are incorrect. When I close this error message, I see that my username has been entered to the 2X Application Connector login screen but not my password. I have the option at this point of clicking the 'Use System Credentials (SSO)' option and, when I do that, the connection to the server is made and the screen is updated. Is there some other place in the registry where the SSO value can be set for all users? I ask that question only because I would like that option as a trouble-shooting tool altho' with only 17 computers to configure, at this point, editing the registry would be faster than trying to get the Group Policy/msi option to work :? A further note - I have logged in to the PC as a local administrator and opened the 'Farm Properties' under the Application Server Client and see that the Auto logon and SSO boxes are both checked, but this does not appear to be a place where these settings can be controlled for all users but only the current user. Is this true? Sorry for all the questions, but my trial use of the 2X software seemed so straight-forward but now that I'm trying to deploy it in a working environment, it's not going very smoothly (to say the least :( ) - Gary

    Hi there,

The issue that you are mentioning has been solved in build 421. Get the latest client from: http://downloads.2x.com/

There is no down-load link on the page you have indicated. It appears to be a text-only file documenting the various updates. - Gary
