I have "Limited" connection in Windows 8 with all default network settings, which basically means no connection (zero packets sent or received). Internet connection was previously working, but stopped with no updates or apparent changes to the VM. Reverting to restore point fixed internet connection once, but no longer works, so probably unrelated. Firewall is off. Using Shared network option. Been through most suggestions on this forum, so not sure where to start. Internet connection works with all other VMs I have installed (Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 10, Ubuntu 12.04, Android 4, Chrome OS). Windows 8 is the only VM with issues.
Based on the numbered instructions at this link (http://kb.parallels.com/8978), here is my response: 1 - Reinstalled Parallels Tools. It didn't fix the connection. 2 - Verified the Network 1 was setup properly. Switched back and forth between bridged and shared, tried all the options, still no connection. 3 - No errors in the Device Manager. Intel PRO/1000 MT Network is listed. IPv4 IP and DNS are set to obtain automatically. 4 - Disabled firewall. Don't have any anti-virus software running. 5 - Tried restoring defaults on the network configuration. 6 - ipconfig output attached. *NOTE - I'm not doing anything crazy here. I use all the defaults for all my VMs. This is the only one with the weird internet issues.
Which network settings are you referring to? I use Wifi on the Mac, I've tried all the options in the Win8 VM config, shared and bridged. Windows 8 has all the default network settings.
Try changing the mac address by clicking the generate button then make sure to use generated mac is selected in the drop down menu If this does not resolve I would recommend moving parallels desktop from the applications folder to the trash then downloading and reinstalling parallels and parallels tools. Maybe there is something corrupted with this install or the VM. If this does not work we may have to try to repair windows. Reinstalling parallels will not delete or remove your Virtual Machines but i alwayse recommend taking a time machine backup before installing any software. http://www.parallels.com/directdownload/pd12
Trying to reinstall Windows and it is telling me the VM is already registered on this machine and won't let me install. I tried to unregister but it tells me I need Pro or Business Edition. How do I get rid of this VM so I can install a fresh one?
When are you getting this error? You should just be able to click the + in the parallels desktop control center to start the wizard and then select the iso file to install from.
