It is Thursday today, which means it is a Windows Update day. Fair enough, but suddenly my Windows 7 VM has got stuck on 12% of the update: 'Configuring Windows Updates. 12% Complete. Do not turn off your computer.'
I have tried forcing Windows to shut down and then re-started it, but it immediately went into Update mode again and got stuck at 12% again. I tried shutting down Windows, completely quitting Parallels and then re-starting again, but the same thing happened and it is still stuck at 12%.
Research suggests that getting stuck at 12% of an update is not uncommon, particularly in Windows 8 apparently, but the solutions given are all a bit confusing because of course they all refer to native Windows installations and recommend force-powering-down one's computer. Naturally, they don't seem to 'fit' having it running as a VM on a Mac.
Can anyone offer any advice on how I can get past this stuck update screen stage of a Windows re-boot please?
My Mac itself is running tickety-boo, and Parallels is working acceptably as well; it is just the Windows OS that is stuck.

Cancel that... After being stuck for about 45 minutes Windows seemed to decided for itself that summat was up, and pronounced that the update had failed, and that it was reverting to previous state or something. Of course, it waited until I'd posted all the above before it did that... It is now booted normally and is back running again.
