I did a clean install of Windows 7 under Parallels 13 about 6 months ago and ran Windows Update until everything was installed. The disk image was ~20GB. I updated again in July and the disk image jumped to ~40GB. Windows Update only downloaded ~1GB of files. I've upgraded to Parallels 14 on the promise of reclaimed disk space. It hasn't changed the size of the disk image at all. What a waste of money. Is there anything I can do to get the disk image back down to 20GB? I hardly ever need Windows - hence still being on Windows 7 - so don't want to give over so much space to it. Also, a little bit unimpressed that there is no way of contacting Parallels Support directly if you don't have Facebook or Twitter...
Hi Rich Walsh, try to clean junk files using Disk Cleanup (use Cleanup System Files option to delete old Windows files) and Disk Fragmentation then check if it helps.
Sorry, those steps were so obvious I forgot to mention that I had of course tried that - along with the tools for compacting the image.
