Hi, I use a Macbook pro running windows 7 as a diagnostic tester for automobiles using bootcamp. I do own Fusion 4 and used to use it this way but found that reliability was not that great and often needed restarting of either Windows or the entire Mac to regain proper usb operation of the Automotive adaptors used. Recently my main two diagnostic software packages both started using hardware from the same manufacturer (Etas) and when I update one program it uninstalls the drivers from the others so I am running into major problems. My questions are: 1. Parallels more reliable when it comes to usb? 2. I own a legal copy Of Window 7 Pro, can I build 2 virtual machines using this (I would only run 1 at a time) if yes, can I freeze the state of the machine or would a complete shutdown be required each time to switch between them? 3. If I use my bootcamp install as a vm, can I use it through Parallels and still use it through bootcamp or is it converted once used in Parallels and then bootcamp will no longer function? Thanks very much for any help! RWI
1. Yes we do not have major USB issues really 2. Yes, technically it is possible. you can even suspend them - but this is more ti ask Microsoft. Running one at a time should be ok 3. Yes, you will be able to run both through Parallels and from Bootcamp. Just do to import boots camp - just creat boot camp based virtual machine. Read more in User Guide
