I no longer have the installation cd's from Microsoft. If buy a new installation disk for Windows 7 or buy Windows 10 what are the step creating a new VM or trying to reinstall on the VN that does not work so that I can keep the data apps I had on Windows 7? The attached file shows the error messages I get when trying to start the VM with Windows 7. Note that I used to be able to start Windows 7. Also from what I can tell the VM is looks for Windows on a SATA drive but I don't have a SATA drive on this machine if I understand correctly that a SATA drive is a solid-state drive. Note also that my other VM Windows Vista boots up fine.

Hello, according to the error message, looks like that your VM has been corrupted.
Could you please check the size of your windows 7 virtual hard drive and let us know what is the HDD size?
And do you have any backup copy of your VM?
