I'm using Paralels Desktop RC2. A Windows 2000 disk image became corrupted after running Compressor. Message while rebooting is: "Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM". Looks like the system's registry is corrupted. Something similar happened after upgrading from RC1 to RC2, then, the only solution was to reinstall all OS and Apps. Is there a known bug for this?? Thanks in advance. Fabio Montoya
I KNOW! I had the exact same problem. I was running Windows XP Pro (with latest updates etc) and when I ran compressor it destroyed the virtual disk. I had to create a new virtual disk and reinstall Windows XP Pro. Luckily for me, I hadn't installed anything else so the re-installation wasn't painful. But now, I dare not touch compressor. And thankfully this is running at near native speeds because it if was running a VPC speeds under PowerPC G4, I'd be crying by now--so slow!
I had it crater an XP install last night. I fortunately backed up the .hdd file before I started, but it gave an error during the initial compress and then craps out and when it returns chkdsk runs an a slew of cross-linked files are found then it's over. Anyone successfully compact an XP drive?
