when I try to install my windows 2000 into the virtual machine I get an prompt window saying:
"Setup has determined that your computer's startup disk is new or has been erased, or that your computer is running an operating system that is incompatible with windows 2000.

if the hard disk is new or has been erased, or if you want to discard its current contents, you can choose to continue setup.

If your computer is running an operating system that is incompatible with windows 200, continuing setup my damage or destroy the existing operating system.

I'm not sure why I'm getting this. Can anyone help me?

    thanks,
    nicole

    That's exactly what should happen.

Parallels creates a new "virtual" disk drive for Windows that is, in reality, a file on your mac disk. Windows sees a brand new, unformatted disk - it can't see or change anything to do with Mac OS. Its quite safe to let Windows go ahead and format the disk as if it were a brand new hard drive.

That's the nice thing about virtual machines - you don't have to worry about accidentally reformatting your "real" hard drive when installing a new OS.
