I'm running "paralles workstation for linux 2.2" in Ubuntu7.04
I've already created a blank VM and am about to install WinXP into it, with an ISO image file on my hard disk as installation CD. After I power on the machine, I see a dialog window prompting installation options, which I am quite familiar and I'm sure it is generated by the installation CD. Then I choose "install". The installation ceases with a black screen prompting at the left top:

    **********************************
    File not found
    Press any key to return...
    *************************************

By pressing any key, I will return to the previous dialog window which is generated by the CD image file.

I've used that ISO file for XP installation for several times in "VirtualBox", with no problems at all. (VirutalBox is another similar program in Linux, in case you have no idea."

    Thanks for help.

    Hello,

could you please answer some questions?
When you have created the VM, did you choose 'Create a typical VM'?
What options do you have checked in 'CD/DVD-ROM Options' in 'Configuration Editor'?

    Best regards,
    Stacey

    Thanks for your attention.
First, I just noticed that I made a mistake in the original post. I'm using Ubuntu7.10 instead of 7.04 actually.

Here is answers to your questions:
1.I did not choose "create a typical VM" at the beginning. Yet after viewing your post, I tried this option and got the same result.
2.I dont think there is any problem with configuration, otherwise the instalation dialog shall not present: "enabled", "connect at startup", "use image file", "IDE0-1"

I happened to find another fact, which may be relevant. Two of Parallel-involved drivers are installed but not in use, shown in attached screenshot.

Strangely, I tried several version of XP installation ISO or CD-ROM, and found one of them worked fine. That one was a WindowsServer 2003 CD-ROM. The rest ones resulted the same way.

I managed to read the error message from the upper left corner, which disappeared right away before back to the CD-ROM menu dialog.

    Hello,

could you please tell me what build of Parallels Workstation are you using? What did you use to create ISO-images?

    Best regards,
    Stacey

Parallels Station 2.2.2204 for Linux; To be frank, I've downloaded the ISO image from the web. It worked fine with VirtualBox.

    Hello,

could you please tell me via PM where did you download an ISO image, so we could try to repeat your actions?

    Best regards,
