I can't seem to get sound or networking to function under Win95.

Both of these work under Win2000 without any issues.

Anything I should be looking for specifically to find out why?

    Thanks.

This thread offered hope to get sound working:

    http://forums.parallels.com/thread959.html

The only problem I have is that with the Parallels Tools installed, the only drivers installed in C:\Program Files\Parallels\Parallels Tools were in a single sub folder: Video. Nothing else is installed (except for the actual tools center binary).

It may help to know which audio device is being emulated in order to find and install drivers for it.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

    D.

A little bit of digging pays off:

I had Windows 2000 running perfectly in Parallels. Found out what Audio device is being emulated: Intel AC 97 82801 ba/bam.

Downloaded the following driver for Win 95:

    http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/7595/

Burned this file to CD under OSX, mounted CD in win95, installed the driver, rebooted: Sound!

    Cheers,

Just out of curiosity, are you trying to run Win95 for nostalgic purposes :) ?

Funny you should ask, I thought of mentioning why I'm going through this, ahh, pain for Win95.

I found a copy of Myst that I had laying around, and never played. :p It only runs on win95. (And I only run Xp when people at work put a gun to my head. :D )

    Cheers.

    Networking isn't...

Did you get neyworking to work? No network card is detected by the Win95 installer, and manually adding the RealTek 8029 drivers on the Win95 CD does not help - it installs but still no hardware is found. I know that others have this working, so what's the secret?
    cheers

BTW, the tip above about the Audio driver was very useful, except I couldn't get the file mentioned. Instead I downloaded the Realtek AC97 driver version A3.89 for Windows 95 direct from their site, and it installed fine, without recourse to the Device Manager.

    <http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True>

Now if I could only get the network driver and sort out the question mark on the PCI Bridge item...

Wait a second .. how did you get Win 95 to install? There are a number of threads on here about having trouble installing Win 95 as well as my having a number of unsuccessful attempts. Could you elaborate on your experience with installing Win 95?
