Yesterday i updated my parallels 8.0 to the latest version, 8.0.18.314.

Everything went just fine except when I started the Windows 7 64 Pro Bootcamp partition from the Mac, and Parallels wanted to update Parallels tools to the latest version.

For some reason the tools update process failed with an error and the updater requested to reboot and try again. Did so, but then the W7 bootcamp partition went BSOD immediately after trying to boot the OS. Tried to boot the partition natively : same results, BSOD. Started the recovery tools and Windows would not even recognize the OS partition. After running the OS "Start up fix" tool, the partition was shown and I could access my files from the recovery disk CMD. However, still cannot boot the OS. Apparently the registry has been left corrupted in the process, and now trying to boot the partition results in an error stating the registry is screwed.

The solution would be to try to restore to a previous system point or from a backup but since I had disabled all this so I could save some SSD space I can´t do that and apparently my only option left now is to reinstall everything from scratch.

using a mid-2012 MBP-R 15" i7 2.3 8GB on OSX 10.8.2. Don't know which Parallels 8.0 build i was updating from but I am pretty sure I was updated to the latest version available before 8.0.18.3114

I just wrestled for hours with a 2012 MBP (OSX 10.8 / Win7 Bootcamp) with the same problem. Eventually i removed the BOOTCAMP install completely and started over.

Windows startup repair didn't help, restore points were disabled (i didn't disable them).
Nothing i found online helped. I tried chkdsk, sfc, safe mode, renaming classpnp.sys, bootrec.exe /FixMbr, bootrec.exe FixBoot, bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd and none of them helped.

Really frustrating, Parallels should provide a tool to fix this.

    Dear All,

    I'm using a Bootcamp partition with Win7 (32 bits).

I'm experiencing an issue with installing Parallels tools after the latest update (Build 8.0.18314 (Revision 813278; October 31, 2012)) : progress bar always stopped at 60% and installation of the parallels tools failed.

I solved this issue by reinstalling the former version of Parallel Desktop by using my TimeMachine Disk. Build 8.0.18305 (Revision 811918; October 25, 2012) works now fine.

    Regards,

    Pascal
