I started Windows 7 on Parallels 9 running under Mountain Lion just like every other time. I have started this VM going back to Parallels 7 under Snow Leopard thousands of times with no trouble. Today, I got a black window with no activity for a minute or two. I went to the Virtual Machine menu and chose reset. Booted into safe mode and have now been running Startup Repair for an hour or so. Any advice as to what to do? There is nothing new except the latest Parallels build from a couple of days ago. No Windows updates for a couple of weeks, have booted several times since then. No new installations. I got a Wizard asking me if I wanted to do System Restore. I exited out of this as I don't have any Windows backups. I do have a backup of the entire VM I did by cloning. I intend to follow KB 8969 after it gets done with system repair and allows me to get into Windows, if it ever does. Any advice as to how to proceed is appreciated. By the way, did you know Microsoft makes a Cancel button available on Startup Repair but if you press Cancel you get a messagebox saying you can't cancel? This is 2013 and it is still amateur hour in Redmond.
I believe this is the same problem I and a work colleague are having. Either we get a black screen after logon or a blue screen directly after start. Is happening with Parallels 9 version 23062 as well as 23140. Pretty big problem as I am unable to work ATM. Mark
