Win 3.11 won't load

I am using parallels desktop 5 and trying to install MS-DOS 6.22 and Win 3.11. I was successful in installing both from ISO images, however when I try to run the 'win' command in DOS, it shows me the splash screen and then dumps to a black screen with a white cursor and basically freezes there. I've read forums and researched and attempted different things such as lowering the memory and video memory as well as making the hard drive smaller, none of which have allowed windows to start. Is there something I'm missing here?

edit: i solved the problem. i had to add DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.exe to config.sys to be able to load win 3.11.
