    Anyone get Win3.11 networking working?

I got the realtek driver for the network card included in Parallels, however windows crashes when it loads when this driver is in use.

Can you tell me the procedure you used?

    I did the following:
    1) Install Dos6.22
    2) Install win3.11 (with networking, no network card driver)
    3) Reboot
    4) Go into windows. Install the realtek driver from realtek's site for win3.11
    5) reboot.
    6) when I type "win" the system crashes. (there is no parallels crash, just the OS inside parallels stops responding)

I've done this a few times to make sure that there is no single time bugs, all with the same result.

    I followed a similar procedure:

    1) Installed DOS 6.22
    2) Configured DOS for CD-ROM support
    3) Used a CD (a real one) to install Win 3.11
    4) Booted into windows, applied the Y2K patches.
    5) Reboot
    6) Installed the Microsoft TCPIP networking component for WIN 3.x
    7) Intstalled the last version of Internet Explorer for WIN 3.x
    8) Reboot
    9) Here is where it gets fuzzy...I remember having to make some minor modifications in the control panel for Windows around networking, but I cannot remember exactly. But I never had a crashing problem.

    Hope that helps....

    I figured it out.

It was timing out on a DHCP response and hanging. When I switched it to host-only networking with internet connection sharing it started working.

I'm downloading IE 5.0 in my Win3.11 as I type this.

I'm actually trying to get this to work myself. I got the networking components installed properly, using the RTL8029 driver from Realtek. Then, I downloaded and installed MSTCP (search for "TCPUPDATE" in the Microsoft Knowledge Base) and Internet Explorer (last version for Windows 3.11 is IE3.0).

I'm so rusty on Win31 -- I have to dig out my old Windows 3.1 books -- and I have a couple of questions. First, can Win31 support NT Domains? Second, what CD-ROM driver do I use to enable CD support in the VM? IIRC, you need a driver in config.sys (for the hardware) and then MSCDEX in autoexec.bat.

After I get the CD working, I can move IE3 over (3mb file) and try out surfing under Windows 3.11.

    Thanks!
