Every time (or just about) I start up the virtual machine on my new MacMini (which has XP Home installed) the system says the version of Parallels Tools I'm running is incompatible with my system. It says to re-install tools. I've done that about three times, yet it keeps saying this. It also says only do it if the machine is on and you are logged in. I think this is a terminology question, but I never "log in" I just start the VM. Am I "logged in" whenever the VM is on? Also, it's reall weird that when you INSTALL tools, the first thing it does is ask you if you want to REMOVE tools. I went ahead and did that each time on the assumption you remove the old version before putting in the new one. Maybe I've done nothing but uninstall Tools? Come to think of it, I have no idea where I should be installing Tools FROM. Does the disk need to be in? The prompts are written as if all you have to do is choose VM and then choose "Install Tools," but, as I say, what that does is UNINSTALL tools. Don't programmers ever try to use the prompts they create???? Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
It's a spurious error message. the tools are correctly installed, but the tool version detector has a bug. This has been discussed on the Mac technical forum.
