Why have the menu items disappeared from the menu bar when in coherence mode?

Dear Parallels - what's the point of the following irritating change you have made in v9, which I had to spend 30 minutes looking for in help?

When you choose coherence mode, the Parallels desktop menus disappear from the menu bar. Instead, you have to toggle the "Parallels desktop icon" (two vertical red bars in the menu bar). Clicking on it gives you basic menu items. To get more items, you have to hit alt.

If you exit coherence, the menu items appear in the menu bar like they always used to.

What's the point of messing about with the menu bar in this way? Why can't we have menu items in the menu bar in coherence like in every previous version I can remember? Why make this completely pointless and frankly user-unfriendly change in the first place, that I had to waste time getting to the bottom of?

Thanks for posting this work around.
This was driving me nuts as well.

At minimum this should be an optional, off by default, configuration because now Parallels Desktop no longer has a consistent interface.
