Hi guys I don't understand why I'm not able to assign more then 1GB when I run Parallels I have 4GB Memory.. Error I get I've tried what it said but doesn't work, I can't assign more then 1024MB of memory.. If anyone can help that would be great!! Thanks! Screenshot
can the staff please help!! honestly Parallels is USELESS without being able to use over 1GB of ram especially considering I want to run Vista, The reason I got Parallels was to play games and such, most games require over 1GB of ram these days in order for everything to run smoothly..
I'm new to Paralells and have experienced the same problem! MacBook Pro 4 GB RAM I resolved that problem enabeling virtual memory preallocatioan (in Paralells Desktop > Preferences), alocate 1540 MB in Paralells > configuration > memory , quit Parallels, start Paralells again and thats it no error this time Hope that helps. Sorry my bad english
thx for post but still doesn't work for me.. same error for some reason =/ I'm still waiting for the staff to help me out!!
I'm sorry it doens't work out for you :-( I spent two days with same problem (could not get more then 1024 without that error), I almost give up, and then with this i saw my problem solved (at list for the moment). First time I tried quiting Parallels immediatly after changing memory. I hope that someone (should be the staff) get the solution you need. Regards
Something has changed here. I have been using 2048 Mb for a long long time with no problem, certainly since 5584 came out and before. Now out of the blue, 1024 Mb is the most it will launch with. Has something happened with 10.5.2 ? Mike
Hello, Mike Boreham, we are analyzing the issue of 1024 MB limitation on Leopard. We've already got another report on it. If you have any new details, please let me know. Yamcha67, please check if enough RAM is allocated to Parallels in Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> Memory. You might have a lack of free space on Mac side - check too. I had to delete your post with offensive remarks addressed to Parallels Team. And I banned you for 7 days. Unfortunately we do not manage to answer everybody here on the forum (which is aimed to provide user-to-user help as well). Please use e-mail and telephone support if you need a prompt answer from Parallels staff. Best regards, Xenos
I was using Parallels without any problems until I tried to launch today and got this same error. I have not added any ram or made any changes. I only have 1GB of memory on the Mac. I checked the Parallels - Preferences - Memory tab. It is set to automatically adjust memory limit at 704MB. Enable virtual memory preallocation is selected. I tried rebooting and opening Parallels with nothing else running. I tried uninstalling Parallels and reinstalling. Someone please tell me what I can do to fix this. I need to get into my tax software before the rsp deadline at the end of the week.
Hello Memce, Have you tried to reduce VM RAM to 512 MB? Open Configuration Editor -> Memory and set Main Memory. Try disabling virtual memory preallocation. Best regards, Xenos
The VM memory is only 256MB. I get the same message regardless of whether or not virtual memory preallocation is enabled.
Hello all, We have found out that the memory allocation issue on Mac OS X 10.5.2 and Parallels Desktop build 5584 is caused by last major Apple security update. Right now the only way to overcome the problem is to downgrade Mac OS X 10.5.2 to 10.5. Please have a look at this article. Best regards, Xenos
