To me this e-mail is saying that I should have gotten a download link of Parallels 3.0 within an hour of receiving this e-mail. Either please give me a downloadable link of Parallel 3.0 or I want my $39.99 back. Naturally, I have received in another e-mail telling me that you have already took $39.99 out of my credit card. I can copy and paste that e-mail too if you want.
This was a pre-order. The new release is not available yet. When it becomes available, you can download it at the parallels website. Be sure to keep your key.
If you're right, then I'm confused about this statement. "The publisher of "Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac Upgrade" has been notified and is responsible for delivering this product. Parallels Software International, Inc. will provide the service by e-mail within 1 hours." It sounds like they're talking about a downloadable link to me. Also why aren't they snail mailing a CD to me? They made me give out my address. Don't worry, I have my activation key. I just left it out on here for obvious reasons.
the original mail sent out by Parallels makes it quite clear that its a pre-order offer... despite what the "element5" merchant might put in its standard responses.
Best optimistic guess I can see is that it comes out during WWDC 2007. It seems Parallels team needed to create some early buzz before WWDC hits, because with WWDC the entire Mac audience will be ooh-ahhing over The Stevenote and have the attention spread out. Even if Parallels could bring out release binary at or around the beginning of WWDC, without this early attention grabbing the impact wouldn't be as great. Of course, if WWDC passes without Parallels giving us the goods, this whole thing might seriously backfire, although they wanted to mitigate that by saying it'll come out 'in a few weeks' and not putting out a concrete date. Since apparently the whole thing's in RC stage right now, it's entirely plausible the thing can come out in two weeks and 'meet the deadline' but only if a major showstopping bug doesn't surface.
God help these support forums if the current beta is really a RC. That said, I am still amazed 3186 was an official release version. It (and now 3188) don't seem as polished as I would like a release version to be. On the flip side, 3188 runs fairly well, has workable bugs and is overall stable. Still I'd like to have seen at least one more set of bug fixes come around before moving on to the next major release. I do suspect they are pushing as hard as they can to have 3.0 out the door at WWDC.
Steveamundo, here is the answer (hiding in plain sight in the email you received). "Parallels will email you your upgrade key for Parallels Desktop 3.0 as soon as it’s released." As others have said, that email looks legit and we are only guessing when the true release will come, but most expect it sometime in the next week or so.
Stevamundo I got the same email & looked at my order with element 5. I hope we weren't phised on this. And that element 5 (Digital River GmbH) is the cheapest & best way Parallels found to handle their order processing. They took my money already, too.
Upgrade to 2.5 required before 3.0 Seemingly the activation key we all received was for upgrading to 2.5 which, according to the same email, is required before we can use the activation key we will receive for 3.0. That is the only sense I can make out of what I have read. But what is this 2.5? How do we discover if we already have 2.5? And how do we upgrade to it if we do not have it? Nowhere can I find what my version is. The 'about' says "Build 1970 (November 2, 2006)." Nor can I find, in my version or on the web, anything about upgrading to 2.5. Can someone help me with the gobbledygook??
... and the activation key you have received is for version 3 when it arrives. Keep it safe. Your existing activation key should work with v2.5.
hisione go to this link: http://www.parallels.com/en/download/desktop/ and download build 3188 which is version 2.5.
