Hi... Something causes my mac to take an inordinate amount of time to boot and I have a suspicion that it is related to Parallels starting up... I see all sorts of entries in the system log near the end of the boot process that seem to say that parallels is taking a lot of resources to get started... To that end I've tried a number of things to stop Parallels from starting whatever services it might be bringing up during the boot process... Note that I have NO ENTRIES for Parallels in my startup items so I, as the user, am not requesting that Parallels starts up at boot time. But obviously there are some automatic processes that go on without user intervention or request... One item I see that starts up is "prl_client_app" and I see that that application is contained inside part of the Contents within the Parallels.app itself (which is contained in the Applications folder)... What tells this application, "prl_client_app" to start??? Is there a way I can request that it and all parallels related services NOT START at boot but start later manually if I want to use Parallels??? Is that possible??? But again, my more pressing question is what tells "prl_client_app" to start since I, the user, am NOT the one requesting that this or any Parallels related app launches during the boot process??? Any help would be much appreciated... thanks.... bob...
Hello, diitto, I do not think that to disable service which does not work as supposed (and it really does not) is the best way out. This behaviour is abnormal. Let us investigate it and try to fix, but not simply disable. For this purpose, please, create a support ticket here: http://www.parallels.com/support/desktop/ and let me know the case number.
Thanks for the helpful response, dear Parallels staff! The file that tells MacOS to run prl_client_app is /Library/LauchAgents/com.parallels.desktop.launch.plist Remove that, and prl_client_app won't start at boot.
