I have been running paralles on a mac book (2 GHz Intel Core Duo w/ 2 GB Memory) for several months now. Inexplicably yesterday when I started parallel's and opened up an application (Corel Draw x3) my system slowed down to the point where Corel would not respond even when I tried to close it. I thought maybe this was a fluke and started IE 7 just to make sure everything was ok and alas the same thing happened. I had been allowing apprx. 750 MB to be used by the VM with no problems. I emaild tech support and they told me to crank up the memory (which made no sense since it had been working fine w/ 750). I did that but am still encountering the same problem. no matter how I adjust the memory settings it does not help. I don't even have to start an application to have this problem......all I have to do is open parallels and let it sit there and soon enough the processor fan kicks on and the system stops responding. Can anyone help me out with this?

FYI: The VM is running Windows XP home edition

check task manager to see what is using the most processor % and/or memory

Sounds like you could have hit a M$ bug.. but to be sure you need to check task manager.

If SVCHOST.EXE is using a lot of CPU, then try looking here:
