Yesterday during a demo of Parallel, I connected my MPB (1.5 G RAM/1.83 mhz) to a projector and the display changed resolution on me. It changed to a larger area which was bigger than the actual screen so that I no longer had access to the task bar. By disconnecting the projector, the display returned to the normal resolution. Other that this glitch it worked great. Bootcamp on the other hand refused to display the screen at all when I connected the projector.
In Boot Camp, you probably have to open the Display Settings control panel and select "extend my Windows Desktop to this display." In Parallels, I've had a similar experience on my external display, but just changing the resolution within Windows resolved it.
Changing the resolution does work but to me the fact that the resolution changed at all is a problem. Connecting a display should not change the laptop's current resolution.
