I don't want to use the built-in iSight on my new MBP because of the requirement that the computer face me.
My laptop is actually in a cabinet in my desk wired to my 27" ViewSonic display. So I want to use a webcam under Windows XP instead. I installed a webcam that works fine when I boot into pure Windows, but under Parallels Windows XP the webcam is found, the webcam turns on, but no picture displays.

I found some old posts about this problem, but nothing to indicate it has ever been fixed. Has it? Is it worth investing in
a webcam that can run under either XP or Mac? Does the problem still exist in Parallels 4.0? (I have 3.0).

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hard to guess without webcam model and report ID when webcam is attached to VM

    model, report id?

Model is micro innovations basic webcam. If it helps, it is attached via a Belkin powered USB hub.

I don't understand the question about report id? What is that and where do I find it when webcam is
    attached via VM?

Attach directly to mac and check, if it fails,
Help - Report a Problem, and post report ID

Webcam is not seen at all when attached directly to Mac. I used "Report a problem" but could not find
the specified library to get report id.

when you connect it to hub, there is additional layer between USB to Parallels, HUB itself, if you connect instead of hub, I suppose you will see device
