I use Parallels to connect to my work VPN from home. That is because the VPN at work needs the smartcard (USB token) authentification and there is yet no real mass-market smartcard solution for Mac. So I have to stick with Windows on Mac. When USB was just introduced in one of early betas, it worked amazingly well for me. I was able to log in to corporate VPN, everything worked. Then came the time when USB stopped working (RC1). Then it is back in RC2 and I can finally connect to corprorate network again without resorting to Boot Camp. But the problem is that the connection stays for a minute or two and then it just dies without any sign of a problem: Windows thinks the connection is fine, it is not disconnected automatically, but just does not operate. When I disconnect manually and then reconnect, everything works again for a minute or two, and then the same thing happens. I have no problem connecting to VPN from my boot camp windows installation. But I hate to switch back and forth every time I need to have a look at some corporate resource. Worst of all, I have no clue how this problem could be resolved. Anyone having the same problem?
aramp - Start by having one of your system people watch the live logs on the device you are connecting to. They can tell you if it is your system doing the disconnect (which I suspect), or if there is a problem on their end of the setup. But, until all the USB issues are corrected, and since it worked once with RC1, I think you will get your fix from Parallels. That is unless Parallels fixed something to conform to standards. How's that for a non-commital answer?!! However, the system people can give you the reason for the disconnect, and you can give that to the good folks at Parallels. Barry
