I resized my virtual drive (XP) with image tool from 3gb to 7gb, but now when I run Parallels, nothing happens and it stays at the Parallels VGA-Compatible Bios Version 1.05. (am using version 2.2 build 1848).Also instead of "All rights reserved", I see "All rights rese ved" (missing r).

I tried compacting it back to 3gb, without any success.

    any ideas? (besides a re-install)

Have you tried rebooting the Mac?

Everyone (not just jackietreehorn): I am constantly amazed, although I should be used to it now, that people don't back up their VMs before doing anything to them that may not be undoable. Many of the questions posted on this forum wouldn't be here if people had backups.

I suggest that EVERYONE make a copy of at least their .hdd file(s) whenever they've put in enough work on them that they don't want to do it over. Backup after installing the guest. Back up again after applying updates, and especially right after activating if it's XP. Back up again after installing software, then back up again just before doing anything that could damage the system such as disk maintenance, compacting, installing new stuff, etc.

The backup doesn't take long, and will definitely reduce the number of times the system will bite you in the rear. External drives are cheap these days, and an easily justified investment if your time is worth anything.

Just the opinion of someone who has been very happy to have a backup more times than I can count.
