I cannot format a 4.7GB DVD-RW disc using a Vista Virtual machine on a MacBook Pro. I get an error message "Windows unable to complete the format". The disc then disappears. It is not visible in Widows Explorer, it cannot be ejected. When I shut down Vista (returning to Mac) the disc remains invisible to the Mac. The only way to eject the disc is to reboot the Mac. Clearly the Mac senses the disc at startup, tries to boot from it, realises it is not a boot disc and ejects it. On reinserting the disc it does not mount to the Mac desktop. I can format and burn DVD's on the Mac. I can burn discs under Vista using the Mastered format. The UDF format (any version) fails to format and seemingly renders the disc useless. My Windows 7 virtual machine behaves in the same way. Can anyone help?
