I was having a problem where I couldn't get the manual upgrade to complete because I couldn't get the CD ROM drive to show up. When I went in to the Device Manager, there was an exclamation point next to the DVD-ROM drive which means the driver wasn't present and nothing I did could get it to install. Then I realized I had internet access so I turned on my Mac's webserver sharing (via Sharing in the System Preferences), copied the prl-tools-win.iso from /Library/Parallels/Tools to /Users/{myUserName}/Sites then downloaded the ISO to windows via Internet Explorer at http://{macIpAddress}/~{myUserName}/prl-tools-win.iso (you can get your IP address in Network settings "Parallels Shared Networking Adaptor"). Then I downloaded this tool: http://blog.godshell.com/blog/index.php?/archives/26-Windows-XP-ISO-Mount-Utility.html. It was a bit hard to get the program working, though. After I copied the file over to the system32/drivers directory you have to click the driver button at the top, load the driver from that location, start the driver, add a drive, then mount the iso. Once you have it mounted, just double click on setup.exe I hope this helps someone. Nate
What problem you have solved here? After upgrading you did not see a dvd rom inside XP? You had to create a problem report and send it to Parallels. Do you have a virtual DVD Rom drive in virtual machine configuration?
