I made a clone of a Parallels 7 VM of Windows 7 that was working fine at the time I cloned it. I subsequently upgraded to Parallels 9.

Parallels 9 sees the VM and will open it in the VM list. But when attempting to boot says it can't find the hard drive 1. If I show package contents in Finder the HDD file is part of the PVM.

Is it possible to use a Parallels 7 clone with Parallels 9? What are the steps to successfully restoring it?

The .pvm file should work fine in PD9. Check the hardware configuration settings for the VM. Make sure the source for Hard Disk 1 points to the .hdd image in the .pvm file.
