I just switched from a Sony Vaio to a MBP. everything's much easier, except for the few things that just weren't ever developed for a Mac...including Act 2006 (or equvalent dbase software). ANYWAY, i just installed ACT 2006 in XP Pro using Parallels (v3), did the updates, and tried to open the database that i last used on my Sony. i get the following error (paraphrased): "Database cannot be accessed. On order to access, check your network connection and verify your server database is available" When i try to restore the database via backup instead of opening it directly, it says it has to be saved on a local drive, not a network (and gives the path i tried to use, which is the virtual drive path, of course). How can i get this to work?!?!! I've disabled my windows firewall, and switched my network connection to bridged instead of shared. But those were suggestions i saw on another forum post, but that was regarding network sharing of a database with presumably other users. I am a single user, with a single database. Anyone have suggestions or similar experience? i really need this to run. THANK YOU! -brian
