I'm running OSX 8.2, Parallels V8, and Win-XP Pro SP3 as a guest OS. I have a Ratoc FR-1 firewire-to-SCSI-3 converter working OK in the Mac environment, but so far I haven't found any way to switch it to the guest OS. I need this interface to run an old Kodak 8650 Dye Sub printer. No drivers for it on the Mac side, so my only hope is to get it working with Win-XP. Anyone know how I can get the FR-1 into the Win-XP VM?
The only way for a VM to 'talk' directly to hardware is via USB or Bluetooth. So, unless you find an adapter that converts SCSI to USB, you are out of luck. http://www.synchrotech.com/product-usb/usb2-uscsi-conv_01.html
Thanks for the info. I have an old Adaptec USB2Xchange, USB-to SCSI-2 adapter, but I can't get it to work with the printer for some unknown reason. I searched Ebay for the one you referenced. Some guy is selling one for $745 if you can believe that. Oh well, I can print using a networked print server, but it's slow. May be my only option at this point.
