I run the GA version of Parallels along with Virtue Desktop.

I run a guest OS of Windows XP SP2 in full screen and then use virtual desktops to switch back to the host OS when I need to.

The problem is that when ever I plug in a USB device, the guest OS (WinXP) takes focus of that device and is detected in the guest OS, even though the focus is on the host OS.

An example: The guest (WinXP) is running on another virtual desktop that is not in focus.. the focus is on the main desktop and OS X. I plug in my digital camera expecting iPhoto to start as usual but it doesn't.

What I do hear is the distinctive WinXP 'da-da' when WinXP recognises a new device and tries to install it.

The only way I can get my camera to be recognised as usual in OS X is to navigate back to the guest OS (WinXP) and then pause it or stop it before I navigate back to the host OS and connect the camera.

Is there is fix for this? or am I just using it wrong?

    Help is much appreciated.

    Regards

Just turn off auto-connect for USB (in VM-preferences)? You can also disconnect individual USB-devices using the status bar.

There ought to be three options for auto-connect, I think: Always, Never, Only when in focus.

Thanks, that idea helps me for now until Parallels fix it. :)
