USB HP Laserjet 3330 and Windows 2000 Support

Discussion in 'Parallels Desktop for Mac' started by Parallels User, May 22, 2006.

  1. Hello

I can't get to work my HP Laserjet 3330 under Windows 2000 (latest SP) with Parallels RC for Mac.

The Printer/Copier/Fax machine is (it is a year 2003 Model):
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...sId=66359&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&lang=en&cc=us

When I try to install the driver, I keep getting messages that the printer is not connected, although I can see it in the device menu and there is a checkmark beside it.

Has anyone tried installing this or any other Laserjet?

    thank you
    Sleiron

I'm using a LJ4000, installed with no trouble in W2k. It's connected to another machine on my network.

If you are attempting to connect directly to your VM via USB, it may not work since USB passthrough doens't (YET) exist in Parallels. If you want to connect directly to the Mac, you might consider setting it up to work in OSX and sharing it on the network. Then install it in W2k as a network printer and you will probably get it to work.

  3. Further tests

    Hi

The main point for trying the USB connection are the Fax/Scanning Features of the HP Drivers, which could be used with HP Laserjet 3330 on PC (but not on Mac because they never provided working drivers, just printing).

The device can scan to email directly or scan multiple pages at once, that would be great for archiving a lot of paper in digital format.

I additionally tried with the newest drivers from HP 4.x, but the main problem persists: there's no connection from Windows to the USB Port.

Parallels, this would be a great enhancement for Businesses like we are ! We would buy Parallels for Mac if this printer (or better USB Support) would work attached through USB.

    cheers
