Upgrading to New 2X ApplicationServer XG

    Hi,
    I am running 2X Application Server 8.1.
    What are the implications and steps required to install New 2X ApplicationServer XG?
    If the server is updated, do all the clients need updating at the same time? This is not possible for me.
    Our company crosses time zones.

    Hi there,

    since there were major changes and new features implemented in 2xAS XG, to be sure, you should upgrade in two steps.

    1. First export your settings (File -> Export settings) althought they will be kept during the upgrade.
    2. Make sure no user is connected, there is no open session anymore.
    3. Upgrade from 8.1 to 9 and from 9 to 10.
    Older Versions you can find here (http://downloads.2x.com/#as_old).

    With regards to the 2xClients, they don't have to be updated in the same time. Even with the older clients it will work.
    However be aware when it comes to particular features of the RDP protocol it might not working as long as the clients are older. Background is that the older client used a older RDP version then the new 2xServer.

    Hi,

    I'm in the same situation, i'd like to upgrade the 8.1 to 10 so i'm wondering if it's necessary to purchase a new licence for the v.10 or can i upgrade as it ? My actual licence 8.1 purchased late 2010 is "2X Application Server, enterprise - 2 Terminal Server.
    And how does work the licensing program (a new licence for each new version or a 1, 2, 3... years upgrades warranty ?)

    Hi. I have the version 9 with license. I have many doubts.
    How do I upgrade to XG?. Only download the XG and install, mi license is valid for XG o I need other one.
    Mi license expired on October 5 of 2011.

    Hi Mario,

    You need just to do the steps gs informed you previously to upgrade from version 9 to the latest version 10.
    Regarding you license,I think before the expire date 'October 5 of 2011 ' the Sales Department will contact you if you want to upgrade the insurance else send an email to [email protected] to check.

    you can skip the v9 part if you are upgrading from 8 to 10, make sure you export the settings before!!
