I am looking to upgrade a user on a remote site from v2.5 to the current version. Is this an easy process for somebody who does not have much experience with software installation etc? Will the upgrade process preserve all his virtual machines and their respective settings? Is there a way to back these up prior to performing the upgrade? Thanks Sean
This should be easy enough if there would be no problems. However, this is a major upgrade, so the backup is stronlgy recommended. Parallels 4.0 suggests making a backup prior to start upgrading by itself, however, you can do it manually. In Parallels 2.5 virtual machine by default is located in /Users/<username>/Library/Parallels/<virtual_machine_name>. Basically, you need an .hdd file named something like "winxp.hdd". Just copy this file to some other place.
