I just upgraded my Mac Intel Mini to build 3188 and suddenly the Windows 2003 guest OS is recording a start-up error in the Event log:

The Parallels Time Synchronization Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

    Anybody got a clue?

I can't help you, but I get the same thing on two Win 2003 R2 virtual machines. I'm on 3188, but the same thing was happening with 3186 (and possible earlier). I've uninstalled and reinstalled the tools several times, but it didn't fix the issue. It hasn't caused me any ill effects, but it is slightly annoying.

Well...considering all the other problems with 3188...it's BACK to the previous version for ME!!

Not sure why it happens on W2K3. The registry key for the Parallels Time Sync service points to the wrong location for the PrlTime.sys file.

This problem didn't occur for me on a clean install of W2K3 on 3186 and only started when I upgraded the tools to 3188. If you guys got it on 3186 or earlier versions then it's probably a bug in the Parallels Tools installer on when upgrading on W2K3.

    Here's the workaround:

    1. Load Regedit.
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PrlTime
    3. Change the ImagePath from "\??\C:\PrlTime.sys" to "system32\DRIVERS\PrlTime.sys" (minus the quotes).
    4. Use the Services control panel to start the "Parallels Time Synchronization Service" and it should start OK.
