    As others are expericing: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23426678#23426678

The error in german says: "PC must be repaired" - The required device is not connected or cannot be accessed.
I assume that the setup cannot deal with the Mac setup.

... I am having problems updating to Windows 8.1 directly from the store; after preparing the setup is completed, the Installation would like to reboot but then crashes after reboot (starting Windows on a MacBookAir).

    The error above occurs.

Does anyone know a work around or fix? So far there is no .iso from Microsoft.

I have tried installing the update via Windows 8 on Bootcamp or via Mac using Parallels Desktop.

    Here's what worked for me:

From some other threads with similar issues:

Worked for me. Oddly, the first time I did the upgrade, had the problem, and tried Disk Utility, I had no luck. The 2nd time, it worked fine. My upgrade procedure ended up being:

    - Change startup disk to Boot Camp partition & reboot into Windows.
    - Perform the 8.1 upgrade (it will reboot 3-4 times doing the upgrade).
    - Test your newly upgraded Windows, then use the Boot Camp control panel to switch your boot drive back to OSX.
    - Once in OSX, (or from the Recovery partition, or a separate boot disk), run disk utility and repair the ENTIRE hard drive--not your individual partitions.

After that, Parallels 8 launched and booted my Boot Camp VM just fine (albeit complaining about an unsupported version being installed.)

    Best,
    Brad

    Hello Brad,

Thank you for your tip, I have not changed the startup disk to Boot Camp, so I went ahead and did that! It's a little annoying every try because I have to start the setup again and that takes a long time, then land at the blue screen and see the error above, followed by an error message "Update to Windows 8.1" no successful but I will troubleshoot of course, just saying.

Mine reboots and the first reboot immediately shows the error above.

    Thanks for your reply,
    Joe

The second error (just for the completeness and since this thread is also linked to a Microsoft community support website)
