When "Running package scripts" during installation of Parallels 5 on my Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard), the installation process stalls near the end with "About a minute" remaining, crawls for an hour or so, and finally hangs just short of completion. Happens every time I try to install the downloaded installer package. For no particular reason I tried to upgrade 4.0.3844 to build 3846, and that doesn't work either. I aborts immediately after I click to "run a program to determine if the software can be installed." Any insight as to what may be underlying these reactio
I did not receive an error message. The install bar just kept running, but after several hours it was apparent that it was not going to finish the install. I had to end the install by cmd-opt-esc. I did try again, with the same result. Subsequently, using the same download of Parallels 5, I tried to upgrade from 4 to 5 on my wife's Imac running Leopard. The install did not hang, but when I finished and restarted it was still running Parallels 4. I updated that with a download of build 3846. That was successful.
I was able to uninstall PD using the Parallels 4 installer disk. Then I attempted to install Parallels 5 from the downloaded installer, and it hung again. The problem was identical to my previous attempts as described in my first post.
