I paid for and downloaded the upgrade to parallels 7 online and entered the activation code which was accepted. When prompted to enter the previous activation code, however, it was rejected. After further research I can see that the upgrade does not work if the previous version was parallels 4; but I was not informed of this prior to purchase. Hopefully someone from parallels is monitoring this and can assist me with either a refund or another way to activate my purchase.
Dear Mr. Benson, unfortunately according to Parallels Desktop 4 EOL policy, upgrade to the latest version is not possible: http://kb.parallels.com/111886 If you would like to take advantage of all Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac features, you will need to purchase a full copy of Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac.
I have exactly the same problem as Jay. The information about v.4 EOL was NOT displayed before my purchase of the upgrade to v.7. I did use the pop-up window in my v.4 to get to the purchase page. I do accept to pay the full price for v.7 but it would be fair to refund me the payment for the useless upgrade. Is there a simple way for me to just pay the difference in price or can I get a refund directly from you? This is a matter of good or bad principle for how to take care of cutomers.
