    Hi,

I'm having some strange problems with Desktop4.
I recently bought a nice MacBook with Snow Leopard installed and wanted to install Parallels Desktop4 on it.
Immidiately after inserting the CD I got a question/message to download the latest build.
I clicked ok to download/install the latest build. After the progress bar was al filled up nothing further happened. I had to cancel the download/install. Tried it a few times; same result nothing happend.
Then I installed the (old) build that was on the CD. After Desktop installed, I checked for updates within the application and the latest build showed up in a window twice, both checked for install. I clicked 'Install'. After a while got a message it was finished, but when I checked the old build was still in the About Desktop. I cannot find anything in the Download folder from Parallels, so I don't guess anything was downloaded and/or installed.
I then decided to de-install Parallels Desktop4. Put in the disk and clicked Un-Install. A message appeared saying desktop4 is not installed??!! But I know it is, I'm running it.........??

Does anyone have any ideas how to get this application (I'm not so pleased about!) un-installed and/or updated to the lastest version??

    Thanks

    Hi Anupama,

I downloaded and installed the software from the link.
After installation, I got the message to restart the Mac, so I did.
During startup I got an error screen saying Parallels Desktop 4.0 could restart.
I did several attempts to restart. No luck. Desktop 4.0 could be started although it was installed. I could see it in the Programs folder, but clicking it did start Desktop.
Finally I un-installed Desktop 4.0 and that worked this time. With my original CD that wasn't possible. I manually also deleted the folders in the Programs and Documents folder.
Now I tried again an installation and this time everything looks ok.
I will now try and install Windows XP as a virtual machine and continue to explore this product.
I'm not very enthusiastic after this troublesome installation....

Anyway, thanks very much for your help
