I have a client with a 2003 server. We first installed the ver. 5 demo version and all went well. We used the universal print a little during the demo period and it worked. We continued to run for a few months after the demo period was over without the universal printer since at that time it was not needed. The client wanted to expand the use of 2x so we bought the lic. For ver. 6 with universal printing. I did make a mistake at first by trying to upgrade the system via a remote connection, but then went on site to install. The 2x installs but stops in the install and claims that the print spooler is not running, but it is. I have fully uninstalled and cleared the reg. entries, reinstalled, re booted, stoped and started spooler service, no change. The 2x application server runs but the universal print service will not install. Other print services are working fine, 2x clients can print from printers installed on the server. 2x support in the US have no fix. The App. event log list repeated errors pointing to the universal printer. Can anyone help?
Hi there, I have never seen such a issue.. do you have some third party software that may be controlling your system?? Can you add a printer manually? Are you installing the Server locally as an administrator or remotely with an administrator? Nixu
No third party software running. I can add printers and the installed local and network printers are working. First install as an upgrade from ver 5 remote, when that failed went on site and installed, un installed, re installed. Universal printing shows in 2x control panel, application event view shows an error every minute of " 2x terminal server agent failed to add 2x universal printer, error information 0x705" If I turn off universal printing in the 2x control the error stops.
Hi there, Could you please run the following application and send us back any information you get: C:\Program Files\2X\ApplicationServer\VirtualPrinter\x32\setupdrv.exe Please not if this is a 64 bit machine you have to run the setupdrv.exe from the x64 folder. Nixu
universal printing I get a message: ADDMONITOR() Failed Error # 3006: The specified print monitor has already been installed Followed by There was an error installing the print driver, please contact support.
universal printer I get the same message when I run setupdrv.exe /u, both from a run command and from a command prompt with both universal print enables and disabled in the 2x console.
Using the upper case /U it does not give an error, but when I run the setup I get the same errors as above.
Hi there, Could you please confirm the bellow. 1) First running setupdrv.exe /U, does not give any error 2) Confirm that if you right click on any other printer -> properties -> ports, port "XX" is not available. 3) Running setupdrv.exe, states "ADDMONITOR() Failed Error # 3006: The specified print monitor has already been installed " correct? Nixu
Only 2X Universal Printer should make use of XX Port monitor. 1) Check all printers and make sure they are not using this port. 2) Use setupdrv.exe /U to install the printer. 3) Run setupdrv.exe. to install the printer. Nixu
hi there. I have a problem with Universl Printing on a 64 bit W2k3 machine. During the application installation, I get this error: "InstallSystemDriver() SetupInstallFromInfSection() Error 87: The parameter is incorrect" And the event log says: Error: [04/0000000D] 2X Terminal Server Agent: Failed to add 2X Universal Printer, Error Information 0x705 I ran 64bit setupdrv.exe and it returned nothing (blank) Then, I ran 64bit setupdrv.exe /U and it said "Printer not installed" Then, I ran 64bit setupdrv.exe and I got this error again: "InstallSystemDriver() SetupInstallFromInfSection() Error 87: The parameter is incorrect" Any ideas?
It seems the Universal Printer driver has not installed fully. This could be due to running AV or spyware utilities during the upgrade or that users were logged into terminal services sessions locking the agent from updating. Ensure all sessions are off, and no AV/Spyware is running then reinstall the software, all settings will be retained. Try to install 2X Agent on a Terminal Server manually. 1. Run 2XAppServer-LoadBalancer.msi (correct version) on the TS 2. Select Custom 3. Deselect all but 2X Agent
