Hello, I had my iMac's hard disk replaced under a replacement program by Apple and, although I did a complete TM backup prior to sending the iMac away, my VM doesn't work after reverting my iMac to the latest backup. As soon as PD started, clicking on "start VM" resulted in the following error: (Unable to change virtual machine permissions. Parallels Desktop cannot set the required permissions for one or more objects in the virtual machine folder. Contact the Parallels support team for assistance.) I have already opened a Parallels support ticket for the issue, I would like however any helpful information on the issue, if there's someone on the forums that has faced it.
It took me some time, but I finally managed to decipher the log file of parallels. Hidden inside were a couple of -22 errors regarding the .mem snapshot files. Tried a couple of things, but it turned out that only if I removed the snapshots folder along with the .xml file, the VM would start. So, bottom line is that Parallels does not do a very good job when testing the VM file, giving out the permissions error as a somehow general one I guess. Lost my snapshots, but the VM doesn't seem to be facing any more issues. Will keep the TM backup of the snapshots in case the Parallels support team comes up with any new ideas.
