I'm running a win 2000 guest OS with all the patches, and after I remove the floppy from the VM profile I boot the VM, and uninstall the Floppy from "Device Manager", reboot again, and then Windows tells me that it re-installed the floppy controller (but it seems to be broken). What's going on here? Is there a "bios" in which I need to disable the controller?
I submitted this problem a few days ago to support and here is the response I go this morning: For some reasons Windows suppose Floppy drive always to be present in the computer. When Floppy is absence in your VM's configuration, Windows couldn't find it and therefore start (as a result you see the message). To avoid this message just disable floppy drive device in your Device Manager. I am not sure this is true since I don't recall this occuring on a "real" installation of Windows XP on a machine without a floppy drive. Mike
