Hello, I'm running Parallels 12 on a late 2017 MBP with High Sierra, and a windows 10 VM. I can browse and read files on the VM C:\ drive from the Host just fine using finder, and I can move files OFF the host C:\ just fine. However, I am unable to place files from the host onto the VM C:\.

I can place files onto my user directory folders (i.e. desktop/documents).

When I try to move files from my host to any non-user folder path in the VM, I get a "Finder want's to Copy "XYZ.xyz". Touch ID or Enter your password to allow this". After I authenticate, the finder error that pops up says: "Items can't be copied to "[C] Windows 10" because you don't have permission to read them."

Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.

Hello @Dakine83 Parallels Support Here! Are you having multiple user accounts on the VM? If yes, are you trying to place the file on the current user which you logged in or the other user account? Could you please share some screenshot to help you further. Thanks, Shathish

Sorry, I had intended to mention this in the original post - I accidentally installed windows "custom" without using the streamlined parallels installation. I also initially set it up with my MS account as my login, but have since changed it to a local account. I thought this might be part of the issue.

As for a screen shot, what would you like a SS of?

    Here's the first popups:

    After authenticating, I get this:

Doesn't matter what the file is, I've tried database backups to word files to images. Thank you!

Hello, I only have one user on my mac, and that has never changed. I have full access to the VM. I can even drop files onto the VM if they are under c:\users\*myUsername*. I cannot drop them outside of that directory path. This would indicate to me it's a windows permissions issue not a mac permissions issue.

The "Items can't be copied to "[C] Windows 10" because you don't have permission to read them." error is misleading - I have complete access to everything on the mac side.

Hi @Dakine83 , can you create a test user account on Mac and check if the issue still persists.
