    Hi
    After 1 month using parallels, suddenly today I received this message while starting up my virtual machine with windows 7. I don't use bootcamp.
    I've read some hints and I've tried to change all the permissions on the .pvm file and all his content with the command

    sudo chmod -R 777 ./

    but I've already read and write for all files for all accounts.
    Il I try to follow this article

    http://kb.parallels.com/en/5734

    I see that in the parallels.log file I've

    04-18 00:58:35.142 F /vdisk:1820:3d17/ Error locking file /Users/paodoc/Documents/Parallels/Windows 71.pvm/Windows 71-0.hdd/Windows 71-0.hdd [35]
    04-18 00:58:35.142 F /vdisk:1820:3d17/ Couldn't lock disk: 0x80021037
    04-18 00:58:35.142 F /vdisk:1820:3d17/ OpenDisk() returned error 0x80021037

    This means it's a permission problem, I think, but permissions are set...

    I've tried to copy the .pvm file but I get the error that the file is corrupted.
    I've also tried to run a new VM and load the .hdd file as a second HD to save the datas, but I'm always getting an error saying that the file is corrupted or used by another program.

    Please I'm desperate... help me :(

    I've noticed that I don't have the DiskDescriptor.xml file in the .psv package... is this the real problem!??!
