Hello, I just acquired the new 17" MacBook Pro with anti-glare screen. I previously had the 1st generation 15" MacBook Pro. I restored everything I had on my 15" to my new 17" through the Time Machine backup I had. Everything went smoothly. All applications are functional. The only problem is when I start Parallels (4.0.3810.351321), I get a message box (see title) that stays on the screen until I click OK. The box also contains the following message : "A file or device required for the operation of CD/DVD-ROM-1 does not exist or is used by another process, or you have no permission to access it. The virtual machine will continue running, but the device will be disconnected". Funny thing, I can read any CD/DVD on my diskdrive, but the drive icon itself appears (in my windows explorer) as being an outside drive or server??? An if I click on the CD/DVD drive, I am told to insert a disk in drive D. Any thoughts on this? Thank you Christian
Hello tc004056, Most probably if you migrate all data from old Mac in settings of Parallels desktop still the same CD/DVD-ROM as on your old Mac. Please do the following: Configure -> CD/DVD -ROM 1 -> remove ("-") after that click OK -> "+" -> CD/DVD-ROM ->Real Device -> connected-> Select Drive How many Virtual machines do you have? Also please check -> Devices -> CD/DVD -ROM what do you have there (real device or image), probably there is image and it is used by other application. We are looing forward to the reply from you.
Hello Galochka, Your posted solution works out perfectly. Everything is back as usual. And now the CD/DVD icon shows (in Windows Explorer) the content of this disk drive. Thanks again TC004056
Have you tried to go to the Parallel Devices Drop-down Menu to Disconnect and Reconnect the CD/DVD? I have had a similar problem with USB Key Drives?
